Enhance Your Yard with a Koi Pond

Could it be that spring is finally here? It's been a long time coming and our thoughts are turning outdoors to our gardens and yards. A koi pond can be a beautiful addition to backyard landscaping, providing a water feature, focal point and symbol of serenity. For avid gardeners, adding a koi pond can bring a whole new dimension to their hobby. For fish hobbyists, koi ponds can extend your hobby into the outdoor world.

Koi are ornamental fish often confused with goldfish, and both are descendant from different families of carp. Koi have been bred and kept as pets for thousands of years, and the earliest written references to these hardy beauties are from China dating back to the third and fourth centuries. Today there are more than 100 different types of koi.

The Animal Store can help get you started on creating your own koi pond, as well as stock and supply your existing pond. Email us for more information, or leave a comment here. Mention the koi pond blog post and get 20% off any single item for your pond.

*Offer good on white tags only and valid through June 15, 2009.

I love koi. I think it'd be a bit much for me to handle this year, but maybe in the future I'll put one in (we're renting our home anyhow) :)
